Annika Stendebach is a PhD Candidate at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture at the University of Giessen, Germany. Her PhD project ‘Not Our Place?’ focuses on the transition of Irish youth and their social spaces between 1958 and 1983 and investigates how young people negotiated relationships (both platonically and romantically) between peers and generations through practices like placemaking. Annika’s research interests include Irish contemporary history, the life worlds of children and youth, history of youth and youth culture, everyday history and gender history.
