A Community Workshop with local artist Maeve Clancy and the Museum of Childhood Ireland’s Anna Sutcliffe, for young artists to gather old stories and bring them to life in a modern way (for children 8+)

This is an inter-generational workshop. The children will be introduced to older members of the community who will have been invited to attend by the museum.

The children will interview them to find out what life for children was like in Achill in the past.

These interviews will then be converted into mini-comics by the young people.

Once the comic books are completed everyone will get a chance to share their work with the group over light refreshments, and of course the books will be taken home to share and spark further conversations on Robert Henri, the Children of the portraits he painted, life in Dooagh, on Achill island, language, history, culture, heritage … Connections, Routes, Networks…

EVENT 1: SEANSCÉALTA – BEALAÍ NUA

Ceardlann Pobail leis an ealaíontóir Maeve Clancy d’ealaíontóirí óga chun seanscéalta a bhailiú agus iad a thabhairt chun beatha ar bhealach nua-aimseartha (do pháistí 8+).

Is ceardlann idirghlúine é seo. Cuirfear na páistí in aithne do dhaoine níos sine ó Acaill a mbeidh cuireadh faighte ag an músaem dóibh.

Cuirfidh na páistí agallamh orthu le fáil amach cén cineál saol a bhí ag leanaí in Acaill san am a chuaigh thart.

Déanfaidh na daoine óga na hagallaimh seo a thiontú ina mionchomics ina dhiaidh sin.

Nuair a bheidh na leabhair ghrinn curtha i gcrích beidh deis ag gach duine a chuid oibre a

roinnt leis an ngrúpa agus beidh sólaistí ar fáíl. Dar ndóigh tabharfar na leabhair abhaile chun comhráite breise a roinnt agus a spreagadh…
