Childhood Services Week Seachtain Seirbhísí Leanaí May 2024

13th-17th May

The picture book ‘Granny Makes Me Grumpy’ explores the perception of old age through the eyes of a child and how this perspective changes and matures with age.

It’s a picture book that the Museum of Childhood Ireland Músaem Óige na hÉireann feels is for everyone.

Karolina Olchowska felt it was important to make this picture book for herself and others who were cared for by that special someone in their lives.

The English-Polish picture book ‘Granny Makes Me Grumpy’ teaches us appreciation of the people who raise us.

Through the activity connected with Granny Makes Me Grumpy, children will become familiar with bilingual picture books, and they will practice visual literacy and creativity skills. By showing similarities between Polish and Irish cultures, the book supports dialogue between Polish and Irish communities.

We’d love if children created a portrait of the special person in their life who cares for them, and we will dedicate an online gallery to the work. Parents/guardians can send it to us at info@museumofchildhood.ie or to our Social Media sites:
