1. The responsible adult submitting the story on behalf of the entrant, will be asked to provide the entrant’s name, gender, region / country, and their age ensuring that they have parental permission to do so.
2. Entries must be submitted by an adult (parent / guardian) on behalf of the child; this adult must have parental permission. This adult may be asked to provide proof of age, identity and eligibility. Entries will generally be in three age categories – Preschool, ages 5 to 11 years and 12 to 18 years.
3. The responsible adult submitting the entrant’s story will be required to approve the entry and agree to the use of the story submitted and the non/fictional nature of the story on behalf of the entrant. The adult must provide their own contact and personal details (not the child’s).
4. Entries must be an original piece of non/fiction. Entries can feature well known public figures from the present day and use real-life experiences. If entrants are unclear on whether the content of a story contradicts the Rules, they may email us at: info@museumofchildhood.ie heading their enquiry QUERY.
5. Parents / guardians guarantee that the children have used only original material. They may depict events that have actually taken place, BUT as the stories will be published, they may not include the personal details of any living persons in the story. (names can be changed to fictional ones to project identity).
6. It is important also that entrants do not include any direct personal details about themselves. The entrant must not include their name in the title or body of the story; entries which do contain this information may be removed.
7. Parents, do please include first name, age, and county or country of residence of child along with their submission to: info@museumofchildhood.ie
8. Only your child’s first name, age and county or country of residence will be identified publicly.
9. Only one entry per child accepted.
10. We are a voluntary organisation and we reserve the right to limit / close entries if we receive unprecedented volumes of submissions beyond our capacity to process.
11. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The Museum of Childhood Ireland, Músaem Óige na hÉireann, hereinafter MoCI does not accept responsibility if entrants ignore these Rules and the entrant’s parent, guardian/other agrees to indemnify us against any claim by any third party from any breach of these Rules.
12. Entries must not contain defamatory, obscene, offensive, or any other unsuitable material; We reserve the right to refuse entries containing such matter. Entries must be suitable to be broadcast, published or used online by the MoCI for audiences of all ages, but in particular for a child audience. If the submission contains troubling content, we will take advice from the ISPCC, and may refer the Troubling Content to the relevant authorities – see MoCI’s Child Protection Policy in the Governance section. Entrants retain the copyright in their entries but their parent or guardian grants to the MoCI a perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free licence to publish, broadcast (across all media), post the entry online, and place in or on on any other platforms yet to be envisaged. This licence will be deemed to include all the necessary rights and permissions to enable such use by the MoCI to fulfil our commitment to the administration of this project / exhibition.
13. By submitting a story, the entrant’s parent or guardian agrees that the MoCI may at its sole discretion edit, adapt, abridge or translate the entry for the purposes listed above.
14. Entrants agree that the MoCI may publish the stories on their Website, Social Media and or other channels.
15. Entries made from trade, consumer groups, agents, or entries automatically generated by computer will not be accepted. The Promoter is not responsible for lost, misplaced, illegible, mutilated, incomplete or undelivered entries, and such entries will be deemed invalid. In the case of bulk entries, we reserve the right to choose one representative piece of work.
16. Entries received from third parties / Institutions will be deemed to be the property of the MoCI and subject to our copyright.
17. Third party entrants must ensure that they have read these terms and conditions and understand that to enter/ pass work on to the MoCI, they must comply with them. They are henceforth ‘All Entrants’.
18. All Entrants. You hereby grant and assign to the MoCI (to the extent that it is has the rights to grant the same) the entire copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Exhibition/ Project/ Competition, henceforth Exhibitions/s etc and your involvement in the Exhibition/s (including, without limitation, all interviews, pictures, audio, audio-visual, whether your appearance / work is featured or incidental) in all media and technology (the “Products”), and where such Products are not in existence at the date of this Agreement, by way of present assignment of future assignment. This assignment shall include the right for the MoCI to amend or otherwise adapt such Products and/or use such Products in conjunction with any other material and to use, distribute and/or broadcast such products in all media / social media and all formats (including transmission by way of analogue transmission, digital audio broadcasting, internet, satellite, television, film, cable or telephony) exhibitions, books, newspapers, and to licence any other persons to do so, in each case for such purposes as the MoCI may in its absolute discretion determine.
19. The MoCI is in no way liable for the reproduction or indirect access via third party web sites or home page access or where any reproduction of the information relating to this competition misstates or omits any of the information or terms and conditions connected with the exhibition/s etc
20. Entrance into the competition/s, exhibition/s etc is deemed acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. These rules are governed by Irish law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish Courts.
